Welcome!
The Abuelo Lab is a cattle immunobiology research laboratory located at the Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine. The mission of the Abuelo Lab is to drive discoveries about strategies to improve immunity in dairy cattle, and to mentor the next generation of the agricultural scientific workforce in an inspiring, collaborative training environment.

What Do We Do?
The focus of our lab is on exploring strategies to improve host resilience during the periods of increased disease risk in dairy cattle: the neonatal and periparturient periods. Our lab combines basic research on the lab bench using cells or tissues with applied research conducting epidemiological studies in the field.
